What in the.......?!?!?!?

On Wednesday afternoons Tom works at the School's Chiropractic Clinic in Downtown Portland.  The clinic does not close until 7:00. Which means that after finishing up paper work, hoping on the train, and then carpooling from the train station, Tom does not get home until close to 8:00 pm on Wednesday nights.  And Owen and I are more than ready for him to be home by that time of night.

Well today, on the way home from clinic, Tom calls and tells me that he "has to go get something" from our friend's Jeff and Amy's house before he comes home, and that he would need me to pick him up in about 30 minutes.  It sounded a little suspicious, but I figured that Mother's Day is on Sunday, and maybe he had something up his sleeve; so I did not ask questions, and dutifully went to pick him up at the time he asked.

When I got over to Jeff and Amy's place, Tom and Jeff were nowhere to be found.  So I asked Amy where they were, and she just smirks and says, "Oh, they are in the garage.  They will be out in a minute."  So, of course I ask what they are up too, and She says, "Oh you will see!"

By this time, my head is swimming trying to figure out what kind of surprise Tom has for my, and why he has been keeping it in the Jensen's garage.  Well, would you like to see?

SCROLL DOWN.........

Yes, that is right, HE BUZZED HIS HAIR.  There I am sitting in the living room, anticipating some great big surprise, and Tom walks in with next to NO HAIR.  Well, I guess I was definitely surprised, just not the way I was expecting to be.  And of course the first thing he says is, "What do you think?"

What do I think?!?!? I think I like his head full of hair.  I think I would have liked to have been consulted before take away all my husband's hair.  I think it makes him look WAAYYYYY different.  I think he has a nice shaped head (which I could never see before).  And I think that I am glad that balding is NOT a trait that runs in his family.  Hallelujah!!!

Well, I guess I gotta look on the bright side; what is done is done.  It will grow back in a few weeks, so it would be silly to get mad about it.  But until it grows back, I have all rights to tease him.

Here's one more look at his new due (ok it is a couple more pictures):

The Wooden Shoe Festival

One of my favorite things about living in
the Northwest is all of the Gardens.  Last Friday, Owen and I went with a couple of friends to my favorite garden yet... The Wood Shoe Tulip Farm in Woodburn OR.  It was amazing!  Sadly, Tom had to work at the clinic, and could not go.

I could not believe how many
different colors of tulips there were, or how many acres of flowers there were.  The flowers seemed to stretch on for miles.  GORGEOUS!!!!!

It was a lot of fun too.
 They had a
lot more than the never ending expanse of Tulips and Daisies.  It was like a festival, with carnival rides, crafty boutiques, yummy food, and great activities for kids.

The weather was perfect, and flowers were beautiful.  The kids had a great time climbing on the hey stacks, swing on tire horses, and having rubber ducky races.  And I loved the flowers.

Da Vinci at the OMSI

The Da Vinci, a Genius, exhibit has been at the OMSI for the past few months.  Tom and I scored free tickets, and decided to go today.  I learned a lot, I gotta admit, I was a little disappointed.  I had very high expectations for the exhibit, and I guess they were just not fulfilled.  Don't get me wrong, it was really well done.  But, it just did not do justice to how ingenious Da Vinci truly was.

The about 2/3 of the exhibit was dedicated to Da Vinci's scintific contributions.  It was full of some of his greatest, most outrageous, and most innovated inventions.  I was shocked to find out how many things Da Vinci had dreamed up, for example: the bicycle, the car, the tank, the parachute, ball-bearings, double hulls in boats, the list goes on and on....  I wish I could show you some pictures, but photography was strictly forbidden.  It was also full of sketches of the human body.  Did you know that he would dig out freshly buried people and dissect them?  Crazy, right?  And did you know that his drawings are so actuate and detailed, that they became the standard for Grey's Anatomy books?  Here is a picture I snuck of Owen doing a puzzle of the human skeleton.
The last half of the exhibit was dedicated to De Vinci's art, and most of that was of coarse the Mona Lisa.  However, most of the Mona Lisa exhibit was about some 21st Century scientist who has studied the picture, and has created what he believes to be a the pure form of the picture, how De Vinci intended for us to see it.  But I think that this is the way we were meant to see the Mona Lisa:
Anyway, after the De Vinci exhibit, we went to the Scince Play Ground there at the OMSI, and Owen loved it!!  it is basically an indoor play ground full of educational toys.  It was pretty awesome.

Sweet Summer Time

I know that it is no quite summer yet, but it has been so beautiful these past few days, that it feels like summer.  We can hardly wait for it here at the Fullmer Fort.

Owen has recently discovered that we have a back yard, and he has also figured out had to open the back door.  It takes a lot of work and patience for that little guy to slide that big heavy glass door open, but once he gets it, he make a made dash for the grass.

Here are some pictures I snapped yesterday of Owen running through the yard.  Notice his how he is dressed for summer: Tee shirt, shorts, and Crocks.
Yep it is time for Summer to stay.

One More Step...

More exciting news in Tom's quest to be a Chiropractor... HE PASSED BOARDS!!!  There are five Board exams that have to be passed before becoming a Chiropractor.  The National Board of Chiropractic is nice enough to divid them up, and administer them at different points of school.

Tom took the first one a year ago.  And last month he took three more.  Scores were released at 5:00 am this morning.  I was woken up by a very happy Tom jumping on the bed singing, "I PASSED!! I PASSED!!"

SO now, Tom is officially 4/5 of a Chiropractor!

Pinned!!!

Well, it is official, Tom is now treating the public!
Tonight was the traditional Pinning Ceremony at Western States Chiropractic College.  What is this you asks?  Well, it is basically a right of passage for Tenth Quarter students, that indicates the end of most of their class work, and the beginning of their Clinic work.  Basically one step closer to being a doctor!

I am so proud of Thomas.  He has been working so hard; he spent 9 months with a cadaver; stayed countless nights at the library until it is closed; pulled more all nighters then I can count;  I have lost track of how many days Tom has woken up at 4:00 am to make sure he has really learned he material; and he has taken something like 160 tests in the past 3.5 years.

Congratulations Sweetheart!!!
Keep up the GOOD WORK!  You are almost done!!!
Just 9 more months are you will be a Chiropractor!!!!

Look at all the Interns getting Pinned!
(They are the ones in white.)  Congratulations Guys!

Isn't he HOT!?!?!?!?

The interns decided to give their families a Standing Ovation for all their support.

Tom has saved a pencil from every test he has taken since he has been at Western States.  Here is a picture of his collection thus far.  Keep in mind, he still has 9 months of school.  I just did a quick count, and there is approximately 160 pencils the bundle.

Big Dreams, and Silly Pass Times

Here is my confession.  I have the silliest obsession, and I am sure it is not healthy.  Awhile ago, I cam across a House Plan website, and I have been hooked ever since.  I have developed a new past time of looking for my Dream Home.  I guess that it is not a new past time; ever since I was a little girl I have loved looking at floor plans.  I don't know why, but I can just get lost staring at house designs, trying to envision what they will look like built.  I enjoy this so much, that sometimes I think that I went into the wrong field; I should have studied architectural design instead of Health and Wellness, especially since I spend more time with house plans and real estate (ie apartments) then I do with work out plans and diets.

There are actually quit a few house plan websites.  Some of them are really cool, you can do an "Advanced Search" and list everything you want in a house, and it will filter through thousands of blueprints, and show you all the plans that meet your criteria.  I have a binder full of floor plans I like, and pictures of design elements I want in my house when I grow up.  Awesome, right?  Well, I think it is.

In fact, I have found my dream house.  You can click here to see all of its details.  One day, when we are rich, and can afford things, and Tom has a successful practice, and we have paid off his student loans, and we have saved up a lot of money, we just might build this house.  I guess we will have to see.
