Garden Catstrophy

We finally got around to transporting
our plant starts into our garden.  The starts were all looking really good while they were in the starter container, then we moved them....  Have you ever attempted to garden with a ONE-year-old?  Well, they lets just say that they like to help, A LOT; and that they are SUPER CURIOUS; to the point that the plants don't survive.

Owen was so fascinated by these green stringy thing that I was putting in the dirt, that he just had to get a better look at them.  I soon as I would plant them, he would pull them up, and start pulling their leaves off.  And the few that I managed to keep him from uprooting when they were first planted, he has since plucked.  Ohhh Goodness.  What will I do with this boy?

Here is what my starts looked like before we planted them:

This is what the garden's looked like right after we planted.  You have to look close, but you can actually see sprouts in the boxes.
A few short days later, here is what the gardens look like after Owen got to them:

So what started out as my great dream to have a garden this year, has been temporarily been delayed.  I think that I am just going to have to try and plant seed directly in the dirt, and see if they grow.  Maybe the Boy wont pull them up if they gradually appear.

At least my tomato and herbs have survived so far:

Our Newest Toy!

For Christmas each year, my parents give their married kids a certain amount a money with the instruction to buy something their family wants/needs.  Then on Christmas, we bring it wrapped up, to my parents house so that they can open what they got for us.  Kinda silly, but it has turned into a really fun tradition.  The Christmas before Owen was born Tom and I decided that we needed a camera so that we could capture every moment of our new baby's life.

Well, we have fallen in love with taking pictures (of more then just Owen).  Both Tom and I have really grown to enjoy photography.  A couple of months ago, I mentioned to Tom that I would ONE day like to have an SLR camera.  He actually remembered this; and well, his idea of ONE day was much sooner then mine.  Little did I know, but Tom has been saving up a little bit for the past couple of months to get me an SLR camera for Mother's Day!  How cool is he?  Yes, I know, he is the coolest.

So, now we have entered a whole new world of photography, and I can hardly wait to learn how to use my new toy!!!!
